Kuripot Alert: Farmers Market the Seafoods Haven

December 30, 2017

It's hubby's birthday yesterday, we are thinking where to dine and celebrate.  My son Aron is craving for sashimi, my husband Aldrin is craving for crabs and shrimp and me nothing, just don't want to spend too much :P  So, we then decided to explore Farmers Market in Cubao to buy fresh shrimps and salmon.

It is in Farmers Market where we usually go when craving for kinds of seafood.  I must say, they have most of the freshest seafood you can think of.

We didn't buy from here, it is a bit expensive for a Suahe.  A friend of mine told me that in SM San Pablo, this is priced P500.00 per kg.

Live crabs! I was shocked at the price of P1200.00 per kilo.  A piece weighs around 3/4 kg.

Tiger Prawns, around P800.00 to P900.00 per kg.  You can imagine my eyes were rolling hearing the price.

Salmon for sashimi priced at P650.00 per kg.

I am getting frustrated because the prices were all beyond our budget.  What do you expect, it's holiday season.   So we explore the inside of the market and guess what, we bought a 1/2 kg shrimp for just P195 and 1/2 kg salmon for P300. Lalala, when kuripot instinct strikes you will surely find what you want on the price you deserve hihihi.

Suahe, P195.00 per 1/2 kg.

We also bought scrapped Salmon and Tuna for P150 that weighs more than 2 kg.  Will cook Sinigang  na Salmon sa Miso for this.

Kuripot Tips:

1.  Explore the market.  Usually, the ones in the front stalls are more expensive.
2.  If you're really on a tight budget, come to the market near closing time or after dinner.  They usually have the what you called "Tumpok" which is way cheaper.
3.  Haggle for prices, they will surely give you big discounts.  Just make sure you'll buy when they gave you the price you asked for an etiquette.

Happy birthday, Aldrin!
